The history of our church dates back to the year
1861. Services were held in a home six miles west of St. Cloud. In
1888, the present lot was purchased and the same year a one room
structure was erected with no basement. It was known as the 1st
Evangelical Church. In 1928, the Minnesota Annual Conference gave
permission to build a new church. In 1946, under the leadership of Rev.
Lowell Gess, our church became debt free. Also in that year, it was
voted by the General Conference to merge the Evangelical and the United
Brethren Churches. In 1952, we became the 1st Evangelical United
Brethren Church and two years later we were renamed Grace U.E.B. 1956
was the year we merged with the Methodist Church and became Grace
United Methodist Church. Since 1991, our church has been under the
leadership and guidance of Pastor John R. Praetorius.
